Ogio Golf Apparel Review

Ogio Golf Apparel Review

New for 2015

By David Theoret

Since 1987, OGIO International, Inc. has been designing and manufacturing backpacks and various travel luggage as well as men's and women's golf bags. The company was founded in 1987 in Bluffdale, Utah by Mike Pratt, a self-proclaimed thrill-seeker and frustrated inventor who needed an outlet for his ideas. His first innovation was a sport bag designed to work like a locker. It was a simple concept, yet showed some outside-the-box thinking for an industry reluctant to change.

Fortunately for Pratt, Nordstrom bought into him and his vision and the company was born. It wasn't until the founder and his new design team brought about serious change in such niche "X Game" categories as motocross, snowboarding, golf, skateboarding, and surfing that the company began to take off and expand into other markets such as golf attire and footwear. Nowadays, OGIO sponsors some of the world's finest extreme sports athletes, all of whom choose to use OGIO gear. They include the likes of Travis Pastrana, Eric Koston, and Bob Burnquist.

A few years ago, Ogio decided to enter the highly competitive world of golf apparel. They played off of their X Game expertise and offered clothing with a unique look and spoke to a certain lifestyle. Clothing that can be worn to the course, to the office or out on the town. These days, their apparel can be found on the backs (and bottoms) of such PGA Tour stars as Aaron Baddeley, Ben Kohles, Chris Stroud and Kevin Streelman

Here are a couple of items from Ogio's Spring 2015 Collection that caught our eye.:

Ogio's Intersection Pants are 100% polyester and feature a lightweight twill with a mechanical stretch allowing you to bend in any direction and make that unbelievable shot. As you and your game start to heat up, the moisture-wicking technology in these Ogio pants keeps you cool throughout the round. The deep front pockets with soft tricot liners and welted back pockets offer plenty of places to put your extras and the gripper gel waistband ensures that everything stays where it belongs . The Ogio Intersection Pant is both fashionable and functional and will have you standing out in the crowd - but not in a bad way. You can where these pants with confidence either on or off the course. Intersection Pants are available two color combinations - black/slate/chrome and chrome/slate/black and many size combinations. Check them out at http://ogio.com/golf/intersection-golf-pant.

The Tint Polo from Ogio will have you looking sharp and staying cool during your round. This 100% polyester polo is very breathable and Ogio's moisture-wicking technology not only keeps your skin dry, but the anti-bacterial fabric guards against odor. The Tint Polo features Heather Interlock for durability and the stretch-infused fabric provides free range of motion. The 4 Ogio Contrast button placket with self-collar has stay and stand capabilities. The amazing feel and fit of this polo and the soft tonal design will have you looking good before, during and after your round. The Tint Polo is available in sizes S - XXL and in 3 color combinations: plum/chrome, royal/slate, slate/white. http://ogio.com/golf/2015-spring-apparel/tint-polo.

Ogio golf apparel can be purchased at Golfsmith as well as some of the larger online golf retailers. For more information or to buy directly from Ogio, visit their website at www.ogio.com.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
