North Carolina Golf School - What You Need from a Teacher

North Carolina Golf School - What You Need from a Teacher

By Brian Weis

When we were growing up, we had teachers that showed up hours early to prep lesson plans and put students in positions to succeed. We also had teachers who showed up disheveled, disengaged, and only for the paycheck.

Teachers in the first group took the time to learn their students. They creatively designed programs to get them from start to finish with the least disruptions. It is because of that extra effort that they excelled beyond others who received cookie cutter instruction with no attention to detail.

When it comes to golf, the same principle applies. You need an instructor that knows your game, that knows you excel off the tee, but struggle around the greens. When a golf coach takes the time to engage with you and incorporate new feedback, that's when you shed strokes and watch your handicap drop.

In North Carolina, there's a few choices, but none better than the Bird Golf North Carolina Golf Schools.

We say this for a variety of reasons, but they all revolve around a central theme-putting golfers in the driver seat. Top notch facilities? Check. I mean we're talking Fox Fire and Pinehurst, not random munis. Elite lodging? Class, comfort, and proximity-all checked off. Top notch resources? Only the most modern and advanced, check. Instructors who care? Yet again, check.

A Case Study
At the North Carolina Golf Schools, you might be fortunate enough to work with a Pro like Scott Ezell. Scott's story is simple enough. He played in college and the pros, and is now bringing knowledge accumulated over the last few decades to the average weekend warrior. You know, the ones looking to sure their game up and beat their friends the next time they play together.

He also works with pros and celebrities alike, but that's a story for a different day.

Ever get a lesson and the instructor gives you three things to work on simultaneously? Shouldn't work, doesn't work, can't work. Staying simple is the key to transformational success, and that's the exact approach taken by those at North Carolina Golf Schools.

Scott uses a "one thing at a time" and "one thought at a time" mentality when working with golfers who shoot in the 110s or 70s. For you to drop 5 handicap points or your average putts from 2.5 to 2, you have to break things down to build them up. It goes grip, then alignment, then swing path. Not grip, alignment, and swing path at once.

What the Students Say
What does it matter if a random voice tells us someone is good at their job? Not much. Instead, we rely on the experiences of real individuals, the ones just like us pursuing a few more yards and a bit more consistency. One student, Jerry, had this to say about Scott Ezell. "He was patient but persistent about improving our golf game. We finished feeling like we got exactly what we signed up for. We look forward using what we learned to improve and enjoy the game more."

A strong and steady approach helps golfers achieve their goals. Instructors like Scott get to know you and how you learn. For that reason alone, a committed instructor is just as valuable as the material they're equipped with.
