WIAA Division II Sectional Meet at Kettle HIlls
High School Boys Golf
The Kewaskum Sectional at Kettle Hills Golf Course is set for Wednesday, May 30th. The WIAA Sectional Meet is both a team and individual match play event which includes 12 teams from a region spanning from East Troy to Green Bay, as well as 12 individual golfers from the region. Of the 72 golfers playing, two teams and three individual golfers will advance to the Division II State Golf Meet at University Ridge in Madison.
Kewaskum and Kettle Moraine Lutheran, two local schools will be competing in the sectional golf meet. According to Glenn Eichstadt, the Meet Manager, Kewaskum might be the team to beat this year. Eichstadt said, "they took fourth in State last year and are all returning this year."
As a host school Kewaskum's Meet Manager, High School Athletic Director and Local Pro work with the WIAA to ensure the course is properly marked so the players know the rules of out of bounds, water hazards and lateral hazards. Eichstadt believes Kettle Hills Golf Course meets the criteria of quality, accessibility and quality of standards to host a Sectional event. With 45-holes the golf course does not have to shut down to host as tee times start at 9:00 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. If a play-off is necessary, which Eichstadt said is common at this level of golf, they will be held at 4:30. He also said, "it is going to come down to who makes a putt and who misses a putt."
