Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Danna Kahrs who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.
Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property Sycamore Creek is the brainchild of the Kahrs family. It is built around their internationally known fish hatchery that has been owned and operated by the family for over 50 years. Having this much water in close proximity does add to the excitement of the course, but also adds to its uniqueness. So much care must be taken to keep the hatchery and the course in balance, chemicals must be environmentally safe in order to ensure the life of the fish and in return we use the water from the ponds to irrigate the golf course. It is a tricky balancing act but one that the family would never trade for a single moment.
One nice thing that this golf course does bring to the table is its dedication to a quality experience. Keeping the course in top condition falls to our superintendent, but working hard comes naturally to the Kahrs family and they have made sure to stay involved on a daily basis. The condition of the course is a great source of pride to all, and everyone works well together to give the golfer the best total experience possible.
If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course? When the facility first opened the Kahrs family made a commitment to always keep the membership and daily fees as low as possible, so that anyone could come and enjoy the facility. It is a true dedication to our golfers that keeps us all going, it is also the reason we are glad to call this place home.
What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course? The scorecard has one section that shows a hole by hole layout of the course. Paying attention to the yardages and the placement of water on the holes will help you score better than average.
What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole? Number 9 is arguably the toughest par five at the Lake. Do not be intimidated off the tee by the water. This is the least of your worries. Keep your second shot in the fairway at all costs. As you approach the green, try your best to keep the ball below the hole. Take par and run.
Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole? Sycamore is known for its killer Bloody Mary's. Either on the golf course or after the round, they will make you smile!
