Nike TW 2014 Golf Shoes

Nike TW 2014 Golf Shoes

Comfort and Performance

By David Theoret

When he's not nursing a nagging injury and actually playing the game, Tiger Woods prefers golf shoes that feature Nike Free technology. With Nike Free, your feet move more naturally and without restriction, allowing you the freedom and support to unleash the full power of your swing. Woods debuted the Nike TW 14 shoes at the 2013 Players Championship and went on to win the tournament. Now, the latest model is a mesh version that Lee Westwood sported during the first round of the Masters. And you didn't think he could find anything to go with that lime green shirt!

Tiger Woods had a lot of input into the design of these shoes. His philosophy was that he runs, trains and lifts in shoes with Nike Free technology; why shouldn't he play golf in them too? What Nike developed for him was a shoe that used their Dynamic Flywire technology - ultra-light yet sturdy cables that hug and move with the foot during the swing, stabilizing it while allowing for full mobility.

Here are some other enhancements to the previous TW 13 model:

* A full mesh tongue, which increases the shoe's breathability without sacrificing waterproof protection for damp conditions
* Plus Design Integrated Traction which provides increased grip on the golf course without clogging
* Nike Power Transfer Zone, a forefoot design in the midsole which offers better balance, smoother weight transfer and more power through impact.

The shoe's outsole is designed to conform and mimic the natural motion of the foot while still delivering the protection and traction of a lightweight performance golf shoe. It also allows the golfer to maintain contact with the ground longer, allowing you to release more power through your swing.

These are probably the most comfortable golf shoes I have ever worn and are even a lot more comfortable than the TW 14 shoes I had with soft spikes. The shoe seems to wrap around your foot and fits like a glove. The stability - and confidence - it inspires is amazing. I could walk 36 holes a day in these shoes! But alas, I live in Florida and most courses don't allow walking; (darn the bad luck!

Nike Men's TW '14 Mesh Spikeless Golf Shoes are available in two color combinations - White/Black-Volt-Wolf Grey and Base Grey/Black-Lagoon Red-Dark Base Grey. These golf shoes come with a 1-year waterproof warranty.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
