FILA Le Mans Golf Polo

FILA Le Mans Golf Polo

About as Eco-friendly As You Can Get

By David Theoret

I was recently sent a FILA polo and asked to write a review about. I was vaguely familiar with FILA, it seems to me that Bjorn Borg used to wear their tennis apparel. I decided to accept the assignment and set out to learn more about the company.

In doing my due diligence, I was astounded to learn that FILA Korea, the parent company, purchased Acushnet in 2011. That makes them not only one of the world's largest sportswear manufacturers in the world, it also makes them the owners of such golf brands as Titleist, FootJoy, and Pinnacle. It's a good thing that FILA has offices in 11 countries around the world.

Originally, The company's primary product was underwear; it wasn't until the 1970s that they moved into the sportswear arena after signing Bjorn Borg to an endorsement deal. This increased the popularity of the brand tremendously.

Which brings me to the review. The FILA Le Mans Polo is about as eco-friendly as any garment can be. It's made from a polyester material which is 100% recycled pop (or soda, pronounced so-der in the northeast) bottles. Throw 9% spandex into the mix and you have a fabric with enough give and stretch to allow for a comfortable golf swing. It's also a material that is very soft.

The fabric in the Le Mans Polo is moisture wicking and draws moisture and sweat away from the body and transfers it to the fabric's outer layer where it can evaporate quickly. This keeps you dry, cool and comfortable even in extremely hot weather.

As if that's not enough, this moisture wicking fabric is finished with an anti-bacterial agent which is very effective at eliminating the very bacteria that causes perspiration odor. The Le Mans Polo features a self-collar and a contrasting left sleeve mesh panel, which adds a nice touch to this garment. The Le Mans Polo can be purchased on the FILA website for $80.00.

FILA makes a lot more than just quality golf polos; A quick visit to www.FILAgolf.com will let you see all of the golf apparel they have to offer.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
