Bette & Court Golf Apparel Review

2015 Women's Spring Collection

By David Theoret

Bette & Court was founded in 1991, by Maria Erickson. The name was derived from her maiden name Betancourt. Since the beginning, the company has been a premier manufacturer of women's golf apparel and resort wear. In 2004, the company launched its performance collection appropriately named SWING - Sporting Women's Innovative Gear. In 2010, the company was purchased by Sport Haley, an industry leader known for quality and service.

The Bette & Court apparel collection consists of clothing for active women looking for everyday performance for a wide range of activities; all at a competitive price without giving up fashion. The line is continually changing; not only the designs but also new cutting edge technology and fabric innovations. Their goal is for you to be excited every time you put on one of their garments.

Bette & Court also believes in giving back to the game. Over the past 17 years, they have done so in many ways:

* Longest running sponsor of the EWGA (Executive Women's Golf Association: 19,000 women strong with 125 chapters in US, Canada and France).
* Sponsor LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Members 2007, 2008, 2009.
* 12-year member of the Woman's Sports Foundation.
* Exclusive vendor for amenity gifts & staff uniforms for the Kraft Nabisco Championship: 2006, 2007, 2009.
* Select vendor for the PGA Championship: 1995 - 2000, 2005, 2006
* Select vendor for the Ryder Cup: 2000, 2006.

Bette & Court were kind enough to send my wife some apparel for her to review. What she found was that while the tailored styles are very chic, they tend to border on more of a "fitted" garment and leave no room for error in sizing. Best to try it on somewhere before you buy. The skorts and polos are ample in sizing and allow free range of motion. The colors are soft and muted; very feminine and appealing. Here are some of her favorites:

Smooth Fit Golf Skort
With the Bette & Court Women's Smooth Fit Golf Skort, fashion has never felt so good. The Smooth Fit design firms your stomach and flattens your backside, while the pull-on design simplifies your style. Crafted from a breathable spandex stretch fabric and cut in a flattering length, this skort allows you to shift and swing with ease, while the lightweight feel helps you maneuver around every hazard with confidence. The Smooth Fit Golf Skort measures 18.5" in length and is made of 26% nylon, 70% rayon, and 4% spandex. It's available in sizes 2 - 18 and in several colors including White, Black, Stone and Sunset. Retail: $72.00.

Reva Short
The Bette & Court Reva Golf Short was created for performance on and off the golf course. These solid, stretch shorts allow you to maneuver around the course with ease. They feature a flat front which delivers a smooth look. The curved pockets provide easily accessible storage of your essentials. The Reva Short is made from a lightweight, breathable fabric that offers a fresh, cool feel and maximum ventilation. The spandex stretch promotes a full range of motion allowing you to push down those long fairways to the green in style and comfort. The Reva Short features a Zip-fly with hook-and-bar-closure and measures 21" in length. The Riva Short is available in Black, Slate and Charcoal in sizes 2 - 18. Retail: $72.00.

Cool Elements Long Sleeve Polo
The Bette & Court Legacy Polo was designed with innovative Cool Elements technology that blocks the sun's rays and regulates your internal core temperature, ensuring that you remain cool, dry and comfortable during the round. Mesh vents under the collar and each arm provide increased ventilation, while the moisture-wicking, anti-bacterial fabric manages perspiration. The Cool Elements polo features Princess seams for a feminine, flattering fit and a half-zip placket for adjustable comfort. This long sleeve garment is available in sizes XS - XXL and several colors including Periwinkle, Sunset, Caribbean, Clementine, Watermelon, Slate and Black. Retail: $80.00.

Groove Polo
If you like being noticed, than the Bette & Court Groove Polo is just for you. The allover pattern and contrast piping at the front yoke will provide everyone who sees you with an unforgettable visual. What's more, the feminine tailoring creates a contoured silhouette providing a flattering fit which inspires confidence all day long. The Groove Polo is made from a lightweight, performance fabric with moisture wicking and anti-bacterial properties. The polo features a three-button placket and two-way air circulation for comfort. The added stretch lets you shift and swing without restriction, so you'll be prepared to impress while you have their attention. This garment is available in sizes SM - XL and retails for $60.00.

Connect Sleeveless Polo
The Bette & Court Connect Sleeveless Polo features contrasting, perpendicular stripes with a mock neck and zipped placket. The lightweight, performance fabric has moisture wicking and anti-bacterial properties and promotes a cool, dry fit that lasts from the first drive to the final putt. Its sleeveless construction allows unrestricted rotation of your arms and shoulders for a smooth swing. It may not help your game, but this top will definitely breathe new life into your golf wardrobe. It's available in sizes XS - XXL and retails for $56.00.

About: David Theoret

David Theoret David Theoret has been in the golf and golf travel industry for over 10 years, primarily selling online advertising. For the past seven years, he has also been a golf writer, reviewing golf courses, resorts, destinations, equipment, golf apparel, and training aids - the latter of which never seems to help. David's articles and reviews have been posted on many golf travel and equipment websites.

Growing up in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, it was naturally assumed he would play hockey. Beginning at the age of 3 and continuing into his late 30's, he did just that. However, after one too many pucks to the head, he realized that golf was a lot easier on the body (whoever said hockey players were slow) and took the game up.

After moving to Florida and accepting a position with TravelGolf Media (now part of GolfNow) his love for the game grew exponentially. Most Saturdays you will find him on a course somewhere in Florida or on the practice range reinforcing his bad habits. David plays to a 10 handicap - unless there is money involved in which case it goes considerably higher. He currently resides in Lakeland, FL with his wife Belinda and their two "kids", Madyson and Molly.
