A FAQ Interview With Nicholas Coleman, CEO Ship Sticks

By Brian Weis

Ask any traveling golfer, what they dread the most about a golf trip and the resounding answer is always traveling with their golf clubs. Nicholas Coleman, CEO Ship Sticks, shares some commonly asked questions and how to travel with your golf clubs in style.

Can you provide a brief description of the service?
Ship Sticks makes traveling with golf clubs and luggage quick and easy, so you can travel completely bag-free. In four simple steps, customers can get a free quote, schedule a shipment, and track their package from pick-up to delivery. Our door-to-door service comes with an on-time guarantee, complimentary insurance, real-time tracking, and white-glove customer service. We offer global services to top golf destinations around the globe.

How are the clubs shipped and how are they protected from damage in the shipping process?
Customers have the option to ship their clubs in a box, soft or hard travel bag. Our support page explains what the packing guidelines are for shipping clubs. It offers advice and best practices to ensure their clubs are protected. In addition to our support page articles, all of our shipments include complimentary shipment insurance. Check out our support page for more information.

Walk me through the process from setting up an account, get shipping materials, shipping, and what to expect upon arrival. Also, how do you return clubs?
Setting up a Ship Sticks account is pretty easy. Customers can set up an account when they make their own shipment, or from our home page. After they fill out the account information, they'll be able to log in to their account anytime. Once the order is placed, the customer prints out the barcoded label from the confirmation email, and affix it to the shipment. On the pickup date, the delivery driver picks up your clubs from your home or business. The next time you'll see your clubs, they'll be waiting for you at the destination. After you're done playing, attach the return label to the packaging and they'll be picked up by the delivery driver.

Do you have an app or what type of tracking is provided?
We are currently working on an app that will be released early this year (2019). We provide real-time tracking updates and alert you when a pickup has occurred and again when your clubs have delivered at it's finally destination. Out dedicated tracking teams tracks your shipment the entire way to ensure it arrives safely and on-time to wherever your destination may be.

What lead time is needed or shipping options do you provide?
We work with your schedule and your travel needs. We offer anywhere from our Next Day Express air service to Standard Ground shipping. So, whatever fits your travel needs, we are able to provide that for you.

Where do you ship or to what golf courses?
"Our services are offered globally to top golfing destinations to help meet travel needs of all kinds. We can pick up from a residence, business, country club or hotel and deliver directly to wherever your staying or playing.

What other services or shipping do you provide?
We ship luggage, skis, and sports equipment of all kinds (i.e., hockey equipment, bikes, surfboards, bowling balls, lacrosse sticks, and baseball gear.)

Follow up - for luggage, do you ship to the golf course or hotel?
Both! Ship Sticks picks up your luggage from your home or business. Your luggage is delivered to the clubhouse, hotel, or wherever you are staying.

Why should someone consider shipping their clubs for their next golf trip?
Traveling to your next golf destination can be a hassle. Lugging your clubs to and from the airport wastes time and effort. Airlines not only charge a tremendous amount for checked luggage, but they mishandle clubs and luggage all the time. Risking damage or filing a baggage claim for lost clubs will ruin a golf trip. Shipping golf clubs and luggage eliminates the risk of the airline damaging and losing your clubs. With Ship Sticks, you are traveling the most convenient and hassle-free way possible.

Where can you get more information?

About: Brian Weis

Brian Weis Brian Weis is the mastermind behind GolfTrips.com, a vast network of golf travel and directory sites covering everything from the rolling fairways of Wisconsin to the sunbaked desert layouts of Arizona. If there’s a golf destination worth visiting, chances are, Brian has written about it, played it, or at the very least, found a way to justify a "business trip" there.

As a card-carrying member of the Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA), International Network of Golf (ING), Golf Travel Writers of America (GTWA), International Golf Travel Writers Association (IGTWA), and The Society of Hickory Golfers (SoHG), Brian has the credentials to prove that talking about golf is his full-time job. In 2016, his peers even handed him The Shaheen Cup, a prestigious award in golf travel writing—essentially the Masters green jacket for guys who don’t hit the range but still know where the best 19th holes are.

Brian’s love for golf goes way back. As a kid, he competed in junior and high school golf, only to realize that his dreams of a college golf scholarship had about the same odds as a 30-handicap making a hole-in-one. Instead, he took the more practical route—working on the West Bend Country Club grounds crew to fund his University of Wisconsin education. Little did he know that mowing greens and fixing divots would one day lead to a career writing about the best courses on the planet.

In 2004, Brian turned his golf passion into a business, launching GolfWisconsin.com. Three years later, he expanded his vision, and GolfTrips.com was born—a one-stop shop for golf travel junkies looking for their next tee time. Today, his empire spans all 50 states, and 20+ international destinations.

On the course, Brian is a weekend warrior who oscillates between a 5 and 9 handicap, depending on how much he's been traveling (or how generous he’s feeling with his scorecard). His signature move" A high, soft fade that his playing partners affectionately (or not-so-affectionately) call "The Weis Slice." But when he catches one clean, his 300+ yard drives remind everyone that while he may write about golf for a living, he can still send a ball into the next zip code with the best of them.

Whether he’s hunting down the best public courses, digging up hidden gems, or simply outdriving his buddies, Brian Weis is living proof that golf is more than a game—it’s a way of life.
