Spa-pres Bliss Found at The Josie This Winter

By Brian Weis

Rossland, British Columbia: Craving winter adventure followed by relaxation at its finest? The wait is over. RED Mountain Resort is scheduled to open Thursday, Dec. 12 - and to soothe those muscles that hurt so good after a day on the slopes, The Josie Hotel unveils SpaTerre. Situated slopeside to RED Mountain, The Josie offers a luxurious haven for visitors after exploring the resort's newly expanded terrain.

After a day on the slopes, guests can enjoy a steamy, slopeside soak and deep-tissue massage in serene surroundings. With views of the Kootenay Rockies wilderness, The Josie's new SpaTerre invites guests to immerse themselves in nature and reward their bodies after a day on the slopes. The spa's newest addition is a pair of panoramic cedar barrel saunas, which promote muscle relaxation, improved circulation and feel-good endorphins. After soaking in forest-scented bliss, guests can indulge in beneficial treatments that will encompass them in total relaxation, including an exfoliating peel treatment, a rosemary-mint aroma body wrap, a Chakra balancing massage, among others.

"The Josie is ideally situated for anyone seeking a mountain getaway this winter and SpaTerre offers healing for both skiers and visitors alike who prefer to play off the slopes," says Jesse Crocket, general manager. "A day of adventure is only made better with a long session in our cedar barrel saunas, or a blissful massage enhanced by stunning scenery. The Josie knows how to show her guests a good time, and this winter is no exception!"

Before indulging in spa-près bliss, visitors can hit the slopes on RED Mountain. One of the largest independent ski resorts in North America, RED Mountain is a favourite among winter adventurers, many of whom travel to Rossland with the sole purpose of skiing and snowboarding on its wide-open groomers and steep, powder-filled glades. The first stop along Canada's famed Powder Highway, the 3,850-acre resort boasts the most acreage per skier on the entire continent, resulting in a refreshingly uncrowded experience. Those who seek the snow and make the trek to RED during the 2019-20 season will have even more terrain to explore thanks to the new Topping Chair expansion, which adds 300 acres and connects skiers and snowboarders to six intermediate runs.

Aficionados with an appetite for adventure in the backcountry can test out the unfettered powder terrain via RED's cat skiing. Advanced skiers are whisked up to areas of Mt. Kirkup inaccessible by chairlift to 1,600 feet of vertical spread across nearly 200 acres; best of all, the thrilling journey won't break the bank with a one-ride ticket priced at $10.

Ready to indulge and get pampered after a quintessentially Canadian day on the slopes? Visit thejosie.com to get started.
