Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Frederick Friedman who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.

Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
The original 9-hole hole course was designed by Thomas Vardon, brother of six-time British Open champion Harry Vardon in 1930. In 1980 Dr. Gordon Emerson designed 9more holes that blended with the original nine holes created the course as it is today.
Spooner Golf Club is a very enjoyable golf course with risk /reward holes and some very challenging holes. There are many pines with the hardwood trees intermingled within them. We have a full driving range with a chipping green, as well a a putting green near the 1st tee.
There is a full service golf shop that offers many top labels. The bar and restaurant located in the upper level of the clubhouse and offer a wonderful view of the 9th hole. There is also a patio that offers outside seating.

If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
The golf course is playable for all levels of players. There are 4 sets of men's tees and 3 sets for the ladies. Don't let the yardages fool you! This par 71 from the tips is an outstanding golf course and has 4 very difficult holes!

What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
Always keep the ball below the hole and don't try to cut off too much on hole #3!! The trees are taller than they look!!

Any recent changes to the golf course? Or any upcoming changes?
We are changing a couple of tees and have added new tees as we try to accommodate all levels of players

Recent Awards or What You Are Most Proud About The Course?
The Wisconsin Department of Tourism selected the 408 yard 18th as the first hole in the state of Wisconsin with their release of The Dairyland Dream 18 holes.

What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
Hole #18 is our Signature hole! It truly does have the "WOW" factor

What Is Your Favorite Hole? Any Tips to Play It?
I think from the black tees hole #3 is a great par 5. It has a lake on the left and OB on the right. The perfect drive would be down the left hand side to get a flat lie. The 2nd shot requires a very long and high shot to carry the trees and the pines. Depending on how much you try to cut off depends on your fate! The elevated green makes it hard to get the perfect distance and there is a very large green that is not difficult if your below the hole!

Must Have Dish or Drink after the round at the 19th Hole?
We offer food specials and on certain days we offer the Special of the Day!

For the traveling golfer, do you have lodging onsite or partner with any area hotels?
We would recommend The Best Western Spooner Riverplace. It is in downtown Spooner.
