The small, well-bunkered greens on Oso Beach Municipal Golf Course in Corpus Christi, Texas, are made all the more challenging by the nearly constant winds that buffet the course. Though short by modern course standards, this muni was good enough to host the 1946 "World Championship Four-Ball Match," featuring Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Jimmy Demaret. Military buffs will find a visit to the USS Lexington fascinating, as the most highly decorated aircraft carrier of World War II is now a museum. And fans of America's National Pastime can take in a minor-league game at Whataburger Field, home of the Corpus Christi Hooks.
