Not every great golf experience requires 7,000 yards. The Short Course at Manistee National is a nine-hole layout routed through old-growth oaks and pines in northern Michigan, designed and built by a Reddit user who apparently decided posting about courses wasn't enough and just went ahead and built one.

The land tells the story. Stone walls from a long-gone farmhouse. Reclaimed railroad ties facing the bunkers. A hundred-year-old oak that has seen it all. And greens so massive you will find new and creative ways to three-putt.

Yardage runs from 1,044 down to 463.
